Think over the last 7 days. You’ve probably done something stupid a couple of times already. Maybe it’s been wasting time on a pointless report, saying yes when you should be saying no, skipping out on a commitment to yourself or someone else — it could be anything.
Cut it out, before it becomes a habit this year.
If you’re serious about a goal or intention you proclaimed to the world a week ago, you better be holding yourself accountable. You don’t have to beat yourself up, everyone goofs from time to time, but you do have to stop it and get back on track.
If you don’t make the small and relatively painless corrections now, they will grow and fester and you will give up and be one of those people who says, “Goals never work for me.” Everyone but you will know that’s a lie, but they will politely nod and give your shoulder a reasuring squeeze before they walk away from you.
Don’t be that person. Catch yourself now and you’ll have a better year.
